WWE Smackdown Review 3/9/12

Note: This is Johnny Ace's Smackdown. This should be interesting because Teddy Long's Raw was off the hook and interesting. There was a title change and even drama beyond all demand. In a way, Teddy Long did WWE Raw a favor to give Santino the U.S. title. So what will happen to Drew McIntyre? We will see what Johnny Ace will do. By the way, David Otunga is the new Johnathan Coachman. So here's WWE Smackdown......

Opening Segment: Lilian Garcia kicked off SmackDown with a look back at the United States Title win by Santino Marella on RAW. There's a cage hanging above the ring. The cage is lowered and out comes David Otunga and John Laurinaitis. Laurinaitis announces Santino vs. Swagger for the US Title in the cage.
(I knew this was going to happen because the way he won on Raw was clustered. It was so much going on and there was too much happening. I do like the fact that there was a cage match on TV. )
Santino Marella retained the US Title against Jack Swagger in the cage. Dolph Ziggler tried to interfere but caught a pair of Cobras from Santino. Santino escaped the cage to win after Vickie Guerrero accidentally hit Swagger with the cage door.
(So Vickie gets the assist after taking out Swagger? So I guess Santino is a legit title holder now. That's good because I am glad to see that title held up and defended on TV. I know he will defend the title again at WM 28. That's good for some fans.)
Backstage segment with Teddy Long begging John Laurinaitis to cancel Aksana vs. Kane but he won't. Ace then makes Long vs. Laurinaitis for later with the winner deciding if Kane vs. Aksana happens.
(This might be interesting only just to see these men try to wrestle.)
Drew McIntyre comes to the ring and John Laurinaitis has given him a shot at getting his job back. His mystery opponent is The Great Khali. David Otunga comes out instead and reveals Drew's new opponent.
(I smell setup. I also sense that Drew is going back to being a heel.)
Drew McIntyre beat Hornswoggle to earn his job back.
(I sense a setup and got one. This was a joke but I am glad to see Drew stay on Smackdown just for now. I don't know why I like Drew but I am glad he's not going no where for now.)
Mark Henry defeated Ezekiel Jackson.
(This was a joke of a match. Zeke is off to being in mid card hell. I think Mark Henry needs to avoid being in mid card hell by going after a title soon. If not, more squash matches will be in his future.)
Teddy Long beat John Laurinaitis, who was wearing black shoes and black spandex under his track suit. Laurinaitis started the match by telling Long to lay down for him. Kane came out but Randy Orton attacked him with an RKO on the floor. Out of all this Teddy rolled Laurinaitis up for the win.
(This was funny to see but awful to watch. I rather watch Kane and RKO have a match. The GMs are killing me with the lack of drama that's suppose to be going on in this feud. At least with Bischoff and Austin, there was drama and action.)
Kofi Kingston and R-Truth beat Epico and Primo in a non-title match.
(This is the doom that will await Kofi and Truth because these guys are stuck in mid card hell. Poor Colons...These guys get a title but has to give it up to not only Kofi again but Truth. Little Jimmy hates Truth.)
Michael Cole brought Sheamus and Daniel Bryan out to the ring for a segment. AJ Lee came out with Bryan and at one point he yelled at her and told her to shut up when she tried to talk. Cody Rhodes came out to pick on Big Show's WrestleMania history some more. Show came out as did The Miz and Randy Orton so we have a six-man match.
(Well I am so glad that this all happened at the end of the show so I could not wait to see the main event at the end. I know that sounds silly but if you think about it, it is confusing at times. By the way, why is Cody still trying to show us the epic fails of the Big Show, Cody is still green and needs to work on his matches.)
Big Show, Randy Orton and Sheamus beat Cody Rhodes, The Miz and Daniel Bryan. Kane came out after the match and brawled into the crowd with Orton. They fought back to the ring and Orton countered a chokeslam with an RKO to end the show.
(This is something I would definitively call a clusterfuck. This was like watch cars on icy roads trying to stop. There was too much going on and not enough to stop it. Not the best main event but it will do.)

Final Thoughts: This was not the best Smackdown. Period. I am so speechless that I will end this review with just that sentence. See you all on Monday for WWE Raw.
